Palin's Daughter is a Baby Momma
(2 votes)

Written by Ebony Jones on Monday, 01 September 2008
Ahhh the smell of schedenfraude in the afternoon.  It's official, Bristol Palin the 17 year old daughter of Republican VP pick Sarah Palin is pregnant .
John McCain's running mate Sarah Palin said Monday that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is five months pregnant, an announcement campaign aides said was aimed at rebutting Internet rumors that Palin's youngest son, born in April, was actually her daughter's.

A statement released by the campaign said that Bristol Palin will keep her baby and marry the child's father. Bristol Palin's baby is due in late December.

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents," Sarah and Todd Palin said in the brief statement.

Well now, isn't that convenient.  The pro-life, no sex before marriage, bible thumping Palin has a teen baby momma in her midst...how very republican of her.

Palin is a train wreck for McCain.  Did he vet her at all. Not that I care.  I'm getting a kick reading and blogging about all the dirt and skeletons in this chick's closet.  But seriously, is this the best the republicans could do?  If it is, they have a serious problem with their party.

No sooner than the words of her announcement as his VP pick had left McCain's lips did the blogosphere begin to light up with rumors of corruption and weird tales of baby swapping and false pregnancies .  Palin is inexperienced, has a habit of having a case of foot in mouth disease and is seemingly a gossip magnent...not what one usually seeks in a running mate.  What's the GOP's game with her?  Distract us with all the dirt...keep us gossiping about Bristol and her baby to avoid talking about the issues?  Or is McCain trying to throw the election?  Is he trying not to get elected?  Why else pick this chick with enough baggage for a nation on her back?

I don't know about you readers, but I don't want this woman a heartbeat away from the big red button. She has shown a serious lack of judgement.  She KNEW her teenage daughter was pregnant. Yet she still accepted the nomination. She knew what would happen.  Tongues would wag, pics would be posted, opinions formed...she could have avoided all of this, for her daughter's sake...isn't that what so called "good" mothers do, sacrifice for their children? But instead Palin is so self centered that she had to go for her shot at the gold right NOW, to hell with what that would do to her family.  Now that's some republican "family values" for you right there.

I wonder what the family values voters think about all of this?  Seems to me, if you are a true family values voter you will vote for someone who actually lives the values you claim to hold dear instead of someone who simply gives lip service to them.  Obama is a once married man with a wife and two children, and no out of wedlock grandchildren.  McCain is married to his mistress, and his VP is about to be a grandmom via her unmarried teen daughter. Which more accurately represents the republican view of the perfect American family...hmmm seems that the Obamas do...unless of course the perfect American family HAS to be white.

One last parting thought.  I wonder if Bristol will wear white at her shotgun wedding?

Schedenfraude? It's been awhile since I've heard someone use that term. So Ebony, you derive enjoyment from the misfortune of others?

There have been young ladies with unexpected pregnancies as long as there have been young ladies. To attack someone because their daughter is pregnant is like blaming a first lady who's husband has affairs with interns. It's not a party thing, it's not a political thing, it's a human thing.

If you think a parent should have absolute control of their teenage children, then you've obviously never been the parent of teenagers.

Also, isn't it a little low to be bringing up unsubstantiated rumors? Supply some concrete facts and I'll admit that you might be right, but to have nothing but innuendoes isn't enough to sway most rational people (although it works well on the blue state people).

The Palin camp issued a statement that she is indeed pregnant. I did not make that up...it's quoted and linked in the article.

I don't have to make things up, GOP is full of more drama than a room full of soap writers.

And yes, this whole dust up makes me giggle. As a blogger nothing makes my keyboard fingers tingle more than scandal. Especially when the scandal involves the self-righteous.

Palin isn't some ordinary everyday mom whose daughter turned up pregnant. That's not news, or gossip or cause for a giggle. That's just unfortunate. But when some elected official goes around waggin' their finger at other people and spouting off about how people should live their lives, and then their life doesn't live up to the example they put forth, then yes I get a kick out of rubbing their high and mighty nose in it.

it is amazing to read the viewpoints between the left and the right ..... but this one is quite significant.

The Right have claimed to be the one party who are "Champions for Family Values". They preach abstinence, sexual morality and pro-life. When a Left-wing opponent commits any sexual sins - the right pounces on them harsely and shouts - here's another one of your leaders that can't keep their pecker in their pants. The John Edwards scandal just kept going on-and-on-and-on. But I digress.

So when a sexual scandal is played out by the Right - it quickly gets tamed and gets painted over as "nothing to talk about", "its a private affair", and in Palin's case - "its a blessing". As if their "sins" are small tomatoes. And if the Left pounces on the Right for their acts of sexual sin - the Right gets defensive at the fire-breathing Liberals and shouts how low and pathetic you are to pick on the misfortunes of others.

Personally I feel slightly bad for Palin's Daughter - with all this undeserved media attention. But I don't feel anything for Palin - she knew going into this VP role, her pregnant daughter will be scrutinized.
Her whole fundamental stance on Family Values - teaching only Abstinence over Prevention - is one of her greatest strengths for the Conservative Party.

If Palin only taught her daughter Abstinence (and nothing about condoms or birth control), - well, how can she lead a country with this STRICT fundamental doctrine she embraces?
Her daughter is now another statistic for the increase in American teenage pregnancy.
If Palin will not open her ears, heart and mind to other alternatives/options/solutions to our nation's problems that are not 'biblically based' - she really cannot run this country.

Wow! Someone who gets what I have been saying all along.

I really could care less about Edwards sneaking around on his wife, or McCain being married to his mistress, or Palin and her family foibles...what burns my buns is the holier than thou attitude, and making that attitude part of their public persona and campaign.

How dare Palin preach to anyone about how to raise their children and try to enact into law her views when her own house isn't in order?

How dare McCain say a word about how others run their lives or manage their financial affairs when he has no idea how many homes he owns and his wifetress doesn't pay the taxes on time?

What nerve they have to pass those bankruptcy laws, and support those morality clauses that allow medical personnel to deny legal care when they have all of these "skeletons" tumbling out of their own closets?

As long as they have that do as a say, not as I do attitude I will continue to gleefully post every dirty secret I come across.
