Hate is Welcome in the McCain/Palin Camp
(0 votes)

Written by Ebony Jones on Tuesday, 07 October 2008
The McCain/Palin supporters are clearly becoming unhinged as the election continues to slip away from their preferred candidates...and McCain and Palin do nothing to stop them from going over the deep end of the hate waterfall.
Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."

The reception had been better in Clearwater, where Palin, speaking to a sea of "Palin Power" and "Sarahcuda" T-shirts, tried to link Obama to the 1960s Weather Underground. "One of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," she said. ("Boooo!" said the crowd.) "And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,' " she continued. ("Boooo!" the crowd repeated.)

"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.

Gee, isn't that special?  But it is not just the pitbull with lipstick that seems to whip up the worst in people, even dry old McCain can pull the hatred out of the crowd.

Did you catch that? The part where someone in the crowd in response to McCain's question of "who is Barack Obama", someone shouts "terrorist".

Neither candidate corrects the hater in their midst. Neither candidate calls for calm or discussion of the issues. Instead both candidates just roll with the hatred, which only encourages the hate to grow.  Is that presidential? Aren't the president and vice president supposed to be leaders of our country...our whole country...and EVERYONE in it, not just the people that look and/or think like them?  I guess not.

But wait there's more .

Administrators at an Oregon college are trying to get to the bottom of who hung a cardboard effigy of Barack Obama from a campus tree Tuesday. The incident at George Fox University appeared to be in protest of a scholarship program geared toward minorities.
A George Fox University employee discovered the life-size cutout of the Democratic presidential candidate hanging from a campus tree with a fishing line around its neck. Posted on the cardboard effigy was a sign that read "Act Six Reject." Act Six is a program that promotes campus diversity and urban leadership. It annually awards full scholarships to up to 10 students most of whom -- but not all -- are minorities.
Did you read that? Colleges, ordinarily a place of understanding, tolerance, and intelligence is infested with people who would do that.  McCain and Palin should watch what they are doing...because the country will be irreversably divided by the time they're finished.

When I hear things like that, I can't help but believe what I hear from older african-americans who lived through segregation. Even though I'd like to give everyone the benefit of doubt first regardless of color, I was always told that racism is everywhere in everyone and time or progress will not erase it; when I hear stories and incidents like this I can't help but think that they could be right.
Holy Crap

I read this early then rushed off to watch the debate so this was still loaded on my computer when I came back.

I have an entire post typed from the debate and re-reading this just inflames me all over again.

My problem? I don't think I can post my newest thoughts LOL and not risk a lynching from the repubs LOL!
