Kroger is recalling all ground beef products with sell-by dates between May 21 and June 8 because they may contain E. coli bacteria that is believed to have stricken at least 35 people in Michigan and Ohio, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Wednesday.So. You know the drill by now. Check your freezers and discard any of this product you find.
No fatalities have been reported, though 14 people were hospitalized -- including one Michigander treated for kidney failure and later released.
The recall involves an undetermined amount of ground beef, including all varieties and weights of products sold in Michigan stores as well as stores in counties in the Toledo and Columbus areas in Ohio.
This nearly constant stream of food contamination scares is getting a little tired. Food prices are going up and quality is going down. Last week it was tomatoes, before that spinach, before that beef again, I could go on and on. Is our food supply not supposed to be safe? Shouldn't we, the consumer, have a reasonable expectation that the food we purchase will not sicken us?
I blame this on Bush. I say that both sarcasticly and seriously. We are going to hell in a handbasket and Bush has on roller skates.
