The Golf Channel has suspended for 2 weeks one of it's anchors Kelly Tilghman for suggesting on air that other golfers lynch Tiger Woods.
"Faldo and Tilghman were discussing young players who could challenge the world's No. 1 player toward the end of Friday's broadcast at Kapalua when Faldo suggested that "to take Tiger on, maybe they should just gang up for a while."
"Lynch him in a back alley," Tilghman replied."
Nice. I bet that made everyone feel warm and fuzzy. I bet everyone got a nice chuckle out of that.
Of course Sharpton began stirring it up to get her fired. Sometimes ole Al makes me just a little nauseous...but what she said was NOT FUNNY.She's a professional broadcaster. Lynching is a very specific term. A loaded one. There where a million other things she could have said to keep the joke rolling. Why that? Because it's only funny with a black man?
Today's times are tense. The economy sucks, there's a neverending war...people are already at each other's throats. We don't need people being so overtly racially insensitive. It just puts folks on edge.
This chick is supposed to be Tiger's friend. Hmm...friends that make nasty jokes on TV at your expense. With friends like that....
I think the suspension is appropriate. Let her think before she speaks next time and keep her dumb ass on the Golf Channel where we she won't have the opportunity to offend too many.
