Lots of folks didn't take too kindly to Dan Gilbert's meltdown over LeBron leaving the Cavaliers to go to the Heat. Right on the heels of ole' uncle Jesse putting his two cents in it, the league decides to fine Gilbert $100,000 for rants unbecoming an owner.
The NBA has fined the Cleveland Cavaliers owner $100,000 for remarks he made after LeBron James announced he was leaving the team.
NBA Commissioner David Stern said Monday that team owner Dan Gilbert's words, "though understandable, were ill-advised and imprudent."
I think the fine is fair. Think of it this way. Playing basketball is a job. Gilbert was LeBron's boss. LeBron did a good job for the Cavs, and now he wants to go work somewhere else, plain and simple. No need for his former boss to go on such a public tirade. It's like a good teacher wanted to go work for a different school because the commute was better, and then the principal got on the PA and ranted for an hour about what a ungrateful idiot the teacher was for leaving. Sounds ridiculous doesn't it?
Dan Gilbert should pay his fine and shut the hell up. And Jesse should go somewhere and take care of his baby momma.
