Fidel Castro admits to wrongdoing, destroying the lives of men and women for just being gay. Cuba decriminalize homosexuality in 1979 and today, efforts are being made to legalize same-sex marriage.

Combat operation is ending. US troops slowly leaving. Seven years since Bush's symbolic and false Mission Accomplished (ending major combat operations) back in May 2003, is actually happening today. Today, the goal is to reduce to 50,000 troops in Iraq by September 1. Soon after will begin Operation New Dawn.

On August 9th, a massive sheet of ice (the size of Manhattan times 4 and half the size in height of the Empire State Building) broke off from the Artic called the Petermann Glacier. There is much to be concern according to scientists, especially the eventual contribution to rising sea levels. Climate change and global warming, everybody! We must not ignore this!
World Sauna Competition Tragedy
Well, here's an extreme sport that may be eliminated for good. In Finland, one of 2 finalist at the World Sauna Championship died after about 6 minutes at 110 degrees CELSIUS (that is 230 degrees F). A slow cook! This was the 12 annual competition and it may be the last. Over 130 participants - down to 2 finalists. One died, the other had to be rushed to the hospital for severe skin burn.
