Its one thing when your opponent accuse you of being a Celebrity, its another when your own campaign aides are calling your number 2 a Diva! Insider News coming from within the McCain Camp are not painting a great picture of Hockey Mom Palin.
A Palin associate, however, said the candidate is simply trying to "bust free" of what she believes was a damaging and mismanaged roll-out.
McCain sources say Palin has gone off-message several times, and they privately wonder whether the incidents were deliberate. They cited an instance in which she labeled robocalls -- recorded messages often used to attack a candidate's opponent -- "irritating" even as the campaign defended their use. Also, they pointed to her telling reporters she disagreed with the campaign's decision to pull out of Michigan.
A second McCain source says she appears to be looking out for herself more than the McCain campaign.
"She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," this McCain adviser said. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.
"Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom." Link
Wow! Guess things are not going so smoothly for the Maverick! His Lady Luck has gone Rogue! She's looking out for her Miss America Crown and not settling to go down with the McCain Ship.
News of tensions within the McCain camp comes after polls suggested Palin - who electrified the party base when named as running mate in August - is now dragging down the Republican ticket 10 days from the November 4 election.
A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released on Wednesday found that Americans are less and less convinced she is worthy to serve as the country's number two leader.
"Her numbers have plummeted in our poll ... what's more 55 per cent think she's unqualified to serve as president if the need arises, which is a troublesome number given McCain's age," said NBC political director Chuck Todd.
It confirmed the findings of an ABC/Washington Post poll released earlier this month which found that six in 10 voters saw Palin, 44, as lacking the experience to be an effective president. "A third are now less likely to vote for McCain because of her," the Post added. Link
I bet McCain is wishing for that song sung by another Diva - If I Could Turn Back Time - to come true for him!
He must be kicking himself for not picking either Romney, Lieberman, Pawlenty or Ridge!
Ho Hum!
