Gay Marriage will lead America into Anarchy, sayeth former NY Giant Receiver, David Tyree. Really? I thought - smaller government shrinking down to nothingless will lead to Anarchy. But David Tyree have every constitutional right to make his comments publicly without fear of being arrested. His rights will not be taken away, unlike his statement.
Renowned New York Giants wide receiver David Tyree has waded into the debate on gay marriage - claiming its legalisation will push the country towards 'anarchy.'
The football player who made the legendary 'helmet catch' in Super Bowl XLII spoke out while making frequent references to his Christianity in an online interview with the National Organisation for Marriage.
African American Tyree also talks about an 'influential minority' pushing to change a concept that is 'holy and sacred'.
The New York state Assembly approved same-sex marriage on Wednesday and the bill is likely to face a vote in the Senate on Friday.
The state-by-state battle over gay marriage has become one of the most contentious U.S. social issues ahead of the 2012 presidential and congressional elections.
Tyree says in the video: 'Marriage is the only relationship that actually mirrors our relationship with god, it's very unique in that way.'
Another "I love Jesus" fanatic thinking people who are not like him are not deemed equal and therefore, should not be protected under our constitutional law. His rhetoric does mirror the old shameful days when the White church of the confederated South preached against interracial marriage - calling it unholy and sacrilege. But how we soon forget history and use the Bible to discriminate another group of people he dislikes.
So he is speaking from a a biblical perspective - but again, like many of his religious fundamental comrades - choose to ignore all the other outdated, unfounded and ridiculous rules the Bible says you should do. Taking one or two verses to be the basis of why equal rights should not be granted to another group of people who are not like you.
Gay Marriage legislation will lead to anarchy is just another blanketed, fear-tactic statement with no basis and no rationale. Tyree did not researched other countries on this planet that has passed and allowed for same-sex marriage: Netherlands 2001, Belgium 2003, Spain 2005, Canada 2005, South Africa 2006, Norway 2009, Sweden 2009, Portugal, Iceland, and Argentina 2010. Denmark have had Civil Unions since 1989. None of these countries have self-imploded since gay marriage have been passed. Christians are blind to history and facts if the two goes against everything they strongly believe and dislike. The only way for Christians to evolve with the current times is to reinterpret the scriptures to modern thinking. So it will take the next generation of Christians to accept Gays and gay marriage. Remember, it took centuries for Christians to believe slavery is wrong, women to have equal rights, allow for interracial marriage, etc.
And for Tyree to make his remark about the message of what gay marriage sends: 'It says that you don't need a mother or father' - this just shows his complete ignorance to the current stats and plight of America today - especially for African Americans. Almost half of all black children born today are in single parent household. But this is irrelevant to his argument because Gay marriage will destroy the family unit and this country.
