Signs like these were prevalent and common in the South. Remember - this racial segregation occurred only 50 years ago - it is still very recent in our History.
Slavery was abolished during Lincoln's administration - but the Civil Rights Movement did not advance until the 1950's. We tend to forget America's Shameful past.
