Well, America has moved to a whole new level of reality TV. White Trash on film (exploited by the Learning Channel): Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and its getting high ratings and it beat the Republican National Convention. It is the dumbing down of America (nothing new there)!
Among the many crimes against humanity that TLC, this country's most socially irresponsible channel, has inflicted upon viewers, perhaps Toddlers & Tiaras is the worst. Well, until the breakout star of that show -- a precocious/annoying child named Alana but better known as Honey Boo Boo Child, who is pageant-whored-out by her obese mother, June -- got her own series. I'm not one for exploiting children on TV for financial gain but this is just over the top. This 6 year old and her unattractive obese mother (June Shannon) is making about $4000 per episode. As Boo Boo's popularity increase, so will their salary increase.
So the bar has been lower and Southpark has jumped into the ring to exploit this white trash comedy and idiocy from Hicktown, Georgia. If Southpark is lampooning you - you are famous!
Lets watch Cartman go head-to-head with Honey Boo Boo!
I haven't watched any of Boo Boo shows on TLC and probably will not. But I do hope this white trash family invest the money they make into something more long term and respectable - like a college education for Alana Thompson (Honey Boo Boo's real name).
But something tells me they are going to waste their money on expensive clothes, fast food and an RV.
Oh well. In the meantime, we'll just laugh at them.
