Monique won the Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in the movie Precious...talking about a transformation. If Monique plays this right, she can use this to continue to transform her career.
I loved her short to the point speech, where she thanked Hattie McDaniels for blazing the trail and Oprah and Tyler Perry for keeping the trail open for everyone...and especially for the remark about the academy, how sometimes they actually give awards to people who deserve them, instead of people who suck up and play the Hollywierd game.
This is such a good look for her, she's come so far. From her beginnings as an R rated stand-up on the hot sauce circuit, to an Oscar award winning actress with a successful TV show, she is an example of how a black woman can make her way in the entertainment business. Kudos to her. Now, if she would only do something about her "marriage", she would be all set.
