"I’m going to move on with my life” Sanford said. “The question is, Will you?”
Wow, for once I may actually agree with this two-timing, hypocritical, lying, cheating adulterer! I wonder if he had told his wife to "Move On!" Hmmmm!
So the 2 words I've been wanting to hear is not "Step Down" - it is to "Move On".
Governor Sanford went back to work for South Carolina, and gave his first press conference since calling his Argentine mistress his soul mate.
When asked whether the affair would continue to serve as a distraction, Sanford turned the question on the reporter.
“It’s as much of a distraction as you want it. I’m going to move on with my life” Sanford said. “The question is, Will you?”
Sanford held a news conference today discussing the federal PASS ID law, intended to make drivers licenses more secure and cost efficient for states. Sanford said he has real concerns about the law and is sending a letter today to Senators Lieberman and Collins, who lead the Senate Homeland Security Committee, asking them to include provisions protecting privacy and civil liberties.
But when a journalist asked how Collins, or Lieberman, or anyone for that matter can take him seriously on legislation after he "admitted lying to so many people," Sanford paused for a moment before answering the reporter’s question.
“I made a mistake in life. I’ve apologized tremendously. I said all I’m going to say on that one, and I’m moving forward. I think people of South Carolina recognize that,” he said, winning a round of applause.
And when Sanford talked about economic opportunity, a reporter brought it back again to Sanford’s credibility: “You talk about economic opportunity, but how do you negotiate with CEOs and companies when you're sometimes the punchline in late night talk shows?” the reporter asked Sanford.
“The CEOs that I’ve talked to understand the imperfections that go with mankind, and they've been much more accommodating on that front than with all due respect, the media," Sanford said.
Sanford asked another reporter whether she had ever made a mistake in her life. “I'm asking you. I think we all do. We’ve all acknowledged this is painful. . . But it is time to move on, and that’s what I intend to do,” he told her -- to a second round of applause.
Okay, let's Move on!
We all know he had an affair. Beyond just a mere fling, he fell in love with this other woman - calling her his 'soulmate'. He's been seeing her for over a year. We all know he used taxpayer's money for personal gain - whether to conduct a 'business meeting' in Argentina, or flying First Class and upgraded expensive hotel rooms, all the while he was a staunch preacher against excessive spending. We all know he disappeared for Father's Day - his 4 young children and the State of South Carolina had no idea where he was.
He did apologized - again and again! To God, his family, the GOP and to his constitutents. I guess all is forgiven, right?!
So let's drop the whole lying and cheating past of his and move on to running the State of South Carolina!
Good thinking???!
Hmmm - now I'm wondering - maybe if Clinton, Edwards, Splitzer and the rest of these political cheaters had apologized as fervently as Sanford did - maybe all of them would have kept their seats and the GOPs will have let it go and "Moved On!"
If I ever run for office - its certainly beneficial to run as a Conservative Right-Wing Republican.
Apparently - you get a pass for unscrupulous behavior and just being a damn HYPOCRITE!
