She Lied - McCain Supporter Ashley Todd Was Not Attacked

By now you have all heard of the story of the 20 year-old McCain supporter Ashley Todd who claimed that she was robbed and assaulted by a black man at an ATM. She further claimed that this assailant noticed that she had a McCain sticker on her car and then proceeded to carve a B for Barack Obama on her cheek. The right-wing blogosphere and next the MSM ran with the story. One thing they all didn't check, the story was false.

The tall tale she told is quite harrowing if you don't listen too closely to the details.

A McCain campaign volunteer who reported that a tall black man robbed her and then cut a "B" onto her cheek after seeing a McCain bumper sticker on her car has been given a polygraph test because of "inconsistencies" in her story, police said.

Police said the student, Ashley Todd, of College Station, Texas, who is white, told them she was attacked by a 6-foot-4 black man Wednesday night...

n her initial account, Richard said, Todd attempted to use the ATM when the man approached her from behind, put a knife with a 4- to 5-inch blade to her throat and demanded money. She told police she handed the assailant $60 and walked away.

Todd told investigators that she suspected the man then noticed a John McCain sticker on her car, became angry and punched her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground and telling her "you are going to be a Barack supporter," police said in a statement.

She said he continued to punch and kick her while threatening "to teach her a lesson for being a McCain supporter," police said. She said he then sat on her chest, pinned her hands down with his knees and scratched a backward letter "B" into her face using what she believed to be a dull knife.

The woman told police she didn't seek medical attention, but instead went to a friend's apartment nearby and called police about 45 minutes later.

Police have reinterviewed Todd at least once since her initial statement, Richard said.

In the subsequent discussions with investigators, according to the police statement, Todd said she was accosted as she approached the bank and fled her attacker, fell to the ground and the assailant began beating and fondling her.

The report of the attack Thursday prompted the Republican presidential candidate and his running mate, Sarah Palin, to call Todd expressing their concern. Barack Obama's campaign also issued a statement wishing Todd well and hoping the attacker would be swiftly brought to justice.

The McCain camp and the right wing was quick to jump on the story and run with...stoking the fires of hate and putting black men's lives in danger, all for a cheap and stupid political stunt.  A lie.  A lie that anyone casually looking at her picture could see.  Who has an eye that black and devoid of swelling less than 24 hours after an attack?  And a mugger who had that much time and political awareness in a public place to carve a backwards B on her face? I know truth is often stranger than fiction, but her story is insulting to a normal person's intelligence.

The right and other media outlets believed her tall tale bacause they wanted to...they wanted to perpetuate the myth of large mandingo type  black men on the rampage for helpless white women...that kind of thing stokes the fires of hate, and makes for good ratings and more donations to political campaigns. Meanwhile, black men, and anyone who could be mistaken for a black man, must watch their back...lest some crazy racist decides to defend this little liar's honor.

Even now, as the news of her big lie is told far and wide there are some in wingnut land who won't believe.  They will stick with the original story, that some crazed black man attacked this poor little girl.  Any evidence to the contrary they will dismiss as a conspiracy by the liberal left media.

But just for posterity's sake I will go ahead and post the facts .

A John McCain campaign volunteer made up a story of being robbed, pinned to the ground and having the letter "B" scratched on her face in a politically inspired attack, police said Friday.

Ashley Todd, 20-year-old college student from College Station, Texas, admitted Friday that the story was false, police said.

Maurita Bryant, the assistant chief of the police department's investigations division, said Todd is being charged with making a false police report.

Police doubted her story from the start, Bryant said.

"She just opened up and said she wanted to tell the truth," Bryant said, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "She was upset with the media for blowing this into a political firestorm."

Dim lights

Now I will sit back and wait for the wingnuts and trolls to post their nasty comments and send their hateful emails for me daring to post the truth.

Oh and while I'm waiting, you might enjoy these little missives for little miss liar...she's really a peace of work. Sigh.

Glad you made this post! If McCain is so big on America why doesn\'t he, of his own initiative, speak up against this sort of thing? The man is dividing this country, not bringing it together! I had my own rant on our blog today myself LOL! Not about this but geeezzz - the ignorant and the \"spread the wealth\" statements. OMG people wake up!

I am so glad that you have had the courage to post this. Don\'t worry about the \"wignuts\" and \"trolls\" ... America is (still) a land of free opinion. We should (still) be allowed to express it without fear of retribution ... Or should we??? Keep up the good work.
